Dr. Paavo Heikkilä (R&D Specialist)

Paavo is responsible for hardware development at Cense Analytics. He has a solid background in experimental physics and instrument development, with several years of experience in various measurement technology projects. In his doctoral thesis, Paavo developed a novel laser-based aerosol measurement instrument, which was ranked in the top 10% of theses in the field. In addition to his research achievements, Paavo brings ten years of university-level teaching experience in fundamental physics, giving him both a deep understanding of the subject and hands-on expertise. His combination of academic excellence and practical experience is key to advancing Cense’s technology development.

Dr. Wen Xu (Data Scientist)

Wen is an experienced Data Scientist and Machine Learning expert with a strong background in advanced mathematics. She has worked on high-impact projects such as VIRPA D and ETAIROS, specializing in various data analysis methods, ethical AI, and machine learning development. With expertise in Python, R, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, she approaches complex problems with a rigorous, analytical mindset. Additionally, she brings proficiency in statistical modelling, inference, and analysis.

Marlon Calispa (Remote Sensing Specialist)

Marlon leads the GIS and remote sensing efforts at Cense Analytics, specializing in soil sciences and environmental modeling. With a strong background in remote sensing, and environmental analysis, Marlon is responsible for developing the company’s geospatial infrastructure, managing data workflows, and integrating cutting-edge tools like Google Earth Engine for sustainable solutions. He is currently finishing a PhD in Bioengineering and agricultural sciences at UCLouvain and bring years of experience in working with large-scale environmental datasets to support decision-making and sustainable land management.
